Coastal England College Counselor Tour · May 9-14 2027 · Limited to 15 counselors
Travel across England’s southern coast with a small group of 15 college counselors, visiting universities, meeting their teams, and experiencing the campuses and communities many US students never discover in their first UK search. Come home with new university options and insight you can bring directly into conversations with students and families.
May 2027 · Only 15 counselors · Deadline October 30
The 2027 Coastal England College Counselor Tour will include:
Together, these universities offer a range of academic strengths, campus environments, locations, and student experiences across southern England.
And with only 15 counselors, you’ll have more opportunities for conversation with university teams and the other professionals traveling with you.
When American students start researching universities in England, the most familiar names and cities often dominate the search. But those aren’t the only options worth considering.
The Coastal England Tour puts you inside universities across southern England so you can help students look beyond the places they’ve already heard of and consider institutions based on academic fit, environment, location, and the experience they want. Sometimes the most useful option you can introduce is the university a student never knew to search for.
A founding member of the Russell Group and a top-100 global university (QS 2024), with a large, research-intensive campus and specialist facilities in Ocean and Earth Sciences, Engineering, and Art and Design.
A practical, career-focused university on a compact city-centre campus, with employability woven directly into the curriculum, a hands-on contrast to Southampton just down the road.
A specialist creative university ranked the best art and design specialist outside London in the Guardian University Guide 2026, with programs in animation, film production, fashion, architecture, and performance.
A university with industry connections in computer animation and visual effects, alongside programs in media, business, and health, and ranked fifth globally for Hospitality and Leisure Management in QS 2024.
One of the UK’s leading creative universities, with programs in art, design, gaming, and film, and a portfolio-and-interview admissions process instead of SAT, ACT, or AP scores.
Along the way, you’ll meet university teams, explore campuses, compare student environments, and experience the cities and communities surrounding each institution. And there will be time to enjoy the coast, the food, and the people you’re traveling with too.
After the tour, you’ll be better prepared to speak specifically about Scotland’s universities and student life — not because you’ve memorized every detail, but because you’ve seen the differences firsthand and can help the right student take a closer look.
In 2025, The UK Study Expert brought 15 counselors across southern England. The group visited University of Southampton, University of Exeter, University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus, University of Plymouth, and Falmouth University. The tour returned in 2026 with a route that included Southampton, Solent University (Southampton), Plymouth, Exeter, and Falmouth.

For 2027, we’re returning with another small group and a five-university itinerary across the region
“I have a good sense of the UK system overall, but this tour enabled me to learn about schools that families from our schools might overlook or not take as seriously without my informed perspective of having been there and seen firsthand what is offered. I am grateful for this opportunity, and thankful to Jackie and her team for expanding my professional advising lens.
“This tour has been eye opening and enjoyable. Yes, we’re packing a lot in the day but I couldn’t have gotten this experience from any video or phone call. It’s one of the better ones I have been on.”
School Counselor, JR Phalen Leadership Academies, Indianapolis, IN
“This tour has been bar none the best I have done in the UK.”

“This was a great trip, so fun and educational! Thank you, Jackie, for putting this together and to all the college reps for their warmth, hospitality, and for setting up robust visits to their campuses.”
The Coastal England Tour is intentionally limited to 15 counselors. That creates more opportunities for conversation with university teams, more time to get to know fellow counselors, and a close group experience as you travel across the region together. The conversations between campus visits, over meals, and while exploring each stop often become just as memorable as the scheduled programming.

The Coastal England Counselor Tour is open to school-based college counselors, independent educational consultants, and other professionals whose work includes advising students about higher education.
The Tour is limited to 15 counselors, and all interested participants must apply by October 30, 2026.
