The Questions Counselors Are Getting Are Becoming More Specific

Interest in UK universities among US students continues to grow.

US applicants through UCAS increased 14% year over year by June 2025. At the January 2026 equal-consideration point, UCAS reported 6,920 US applicants, another 3.5% increase year over year

For counselors, more interest can mean more questions that go beyond knowing how UCAS works.

How does a student's combination of GPA, APs, IB results, or standardized test scores compare with a university's published requirements?

What should you look for when UK universities describe US entry requirements differently?

How should you advise a student whose academic profile doesn't fit neatly into the examples you've seen before?

What changed this application cycle, and does it affect the students you're advising now?

You don’t need to research every question from the beginning each time one comes up.

You need a reliable way to keep your knowledge current and somewhere credible to turn when a student's situation needs a closer look.

That's the role of UK Admissions Advantage.

YOUR YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT

Professional Development That Continues With the Admissions Cycle

Some parts of Advantage happen on a monthly schedule. Others are available when a question or student situation comes up.

Together, they give you a way to keep learning without having to wait for your next conference, training event, or admissions season to find the information you need.

The Deep Dive
MONTHLY · FOCUSED UK ADMISSIONS TRAINING

Go Deeper on an Issue That's Relevant to Your Work Now

Each month, the Deep Dive focuses on a UK admissions topic counselors are encountering in their work.

Topics may include changes to UCAS, interpreting US qualifications against UK entry requirements, advising students interested in competitive subjects, visa and post-study updates, financial considerations, or shifts in admissions patterns.

Rather than trying to cover the entire UK admissions system at once, each Deep Dive gives you focused professional development you can connect to the students and families you’re advising now.

The Live Walkthrough
MONTHLY · PRACTICAL APPLICATION

See How the Process Works, Not Just What the Guidance Says

Sometimes reading the requirements isn’t enough.

During the Live Walkthrough, you’ll work through practical aspects of UK admissions in real time, from UCAS processes to researching university websites and interpreting the information you need to advise a student.

The focus is on turning information into something you can use in your next counseling conversation.

Behind the Practice
MONTHLY · FOR INDEPENDENT COUNSELORS

Develop the Business Side of UK Admissions Advising

For independent educational consultants and counselors, knowing UK admissions is only part of the equation.

Behind the Practice focuses on incorporating UK admissions expertise into your services in a way that fits your existing practice.
Sessions may cover positioning UK expertise as a specialty, developing referrals, pricing UK admissions services, discussing fees with families, and planning workload around the UCAS calendar.

School-based counselor? You’ll have access to these sessions as an Advantage member, but this track is designed primarily for counselors running independent practices.

The Case Desk

AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE MONTH

Bring Us the Student Situation That Needs a Closer Look

A university website can tell you its published requirements.
It can’t always tell you how to think through the student sitting in front of you.

A man and woman collaborate over a laptop, both engaged in the task at hand.

Maybe the student has an unusual academic background.

Maybe their GPA is below a published benchmark, but their AP results tell a different story.

Maybe they have a mix of high school and college coursework.

Maybe two university websites appear to describe similar US qualifications differently.

Or maybe you've researched the question and still aren't comfortable advising the family without another experienced perspective.

That's what the Case Desk is for.

Advantage members can submit specific student situations throughout the month for expert input from Jackie and her team.

Yes. You don’t need to arrive with extensive UK admissions experience. The monthly sessions give you continued exposure to the system, while the Live Walkthrough helps you see how processes work in practice.

If you’re looking for concentrated foundational training across the UK admissions system, you may also want to consider the annual UK Admissions Academy.

It can be. A smaller UK-bound caseload often means you encounter certain questions less frequently, which can make it harder to retain every process or stay aware of changes between application cycles.

Advantage gives you somewhere to check your knowledge, continue learning, and ask for input when one of those students comes along.

Both. The Deep Dive, Live Walkthrough, Case Desk, and community are relevant to counselors in either setting.

Behind the Practice is designed primarily for independent counselors and educational consultants because it covers topics such as positioning, referrals, pricing, and practice management.

The Case Desk is designed for specific student situations that require more context than a general community question.

Examples might include:

  • An unusual combination of US qualifications

  • A student whose grades sit near a published entry requirement
  • Questions about interpreting university-specific US requirements
  • An academic profile that doesn’t fit neatly into published examples
  • A situation you’ve researched but would like another experienced perspective on before advising the family

Advantage is designed to fit around an existing counseling workload.

The Deep Dive and Live Walkthrough each happen monthly. Beyond those scheduled sessions, you can use the Case Desk and UK Pro Circle when they’re useful to you.

You don’t need to participate in every conversation or use every resource each month to remain a member.

The monthly membership is billed at $45 per month. You may cancel before your next renewal to prevent another monthly charge.

The annual membership is billed once per year at $450. Review the membership terms before purchasing for information about renewals, cancellations, and refunds.
